Free Tarot Card Reading

Think of a question, shuffle, and draw one card or three. Each card comes with its upright or reversed meaning.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent or stored.

How to use

  1. Type a question if you like. It stays on your screen only.
  2. Choose one card or the three-card past, present and future spread.
  3. Keep reversed cards on, or turn them off to get upright meanings only.
  4. Press Shuffle & draw and read each card. Copy a share link or save the result as an image.

This tarot reading uses the 22 major arcana, the trump cards of the traditional 78-card tarot, from The Fool (0) to The World (XXI). Each card has three to five keywords and a short reading for both the upright and the reversed position. The readings were written for this site. Card art is being drawn as a cast of animal characters, such as a baby fox for The Fool and a whale for The World; until then each card shows its number, name, animal and emoji.

Cards are shuffled with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and a Fisher–Yates shuffle with rejection sampling, so every card is equally likely and no result is decided in advance. With reversed cards on, each card has an even chance of landing upside down. The share link keeps only the card numbers and their orientation after the # sign, a part of the address that browsers do not send to the server.

This reading is for entertainment and self-reflection. It cannot predict the future and should not be the basis for medical, legal or financial decisions. Your question is never put in the share link, the saved image, cookies or browser storage.

Frequently asked questions

What does a reversed card mean?

A reversed card is drawn upside down. It usually points to the same theme as the upright card, but blocked, delayed, overdone or turned inward. Turn off reversed cards if you prefer upright meanings only.

Why only the 22 major arcana?

The major arcana carry the big life themes of the deck and are enough for one-card and three-card readings. The 56 minor arcana may be added later.

Is my question saved or sent anywhere?

No. The question only appears on the page while it is open. It is not included in the share link or the saved image, and nothing is stored or sent to a server.
